Thomas 12

12. The disciples said to Jesus, "We know that you are going to leave us. Who will be our leader?"

Jesus said to them, "No matter where you are you are to go to James the Just, for whose sake heaven and earth came into being."

I wonder who James the Just was. I'll bet this verse has a lot to do with why Thomas wasn't included in the NT canon.

Yeah: it throws the authority and lineage of the official church into ?

James the Just was a brother of Jesus. That would be a cousin. He was one of the early Christian leaders.
For an account concerning the authority of various church leaders, see the Book of Acts, written by Luke.
The account includes a clash between Paul and the other apostles. But, the clash was resolved.
